How to avoid Mini-Storage Mistakes

Finally, you have given up the fight and rented mini-storage for all of those cluttering items in your garage and loft. Congratulations! However, before you start to gleefully stuff everything into boxes with abandon and call the day a success, let’s take a look at some of the common mistakes that people tend to make when using Mi Ni Cang. Use this as your guide to storage, extra resources!

Think of storing as a Tetris-like game. Tetris doesn’t work if you just randomly throw pieces at each other. Another very common error is packing the unit in a way that would be similar to building a bonfire. Just pile everything up without considering strategy. Balance and variety is important! To prevent your pile from falling, place heavier boxes in the bottom and lighter items on top.

You don’t want your beloved collection of porcelain ducks to be broken by accident.

Another pitfall: Trying to store all. Imagine yourself years later, going through your storage unit and scratching you head. You wonder what the heck the broken toaster or your old chemistry notebooks were for. Like your great aunt, only keep things that are truly sentimental and/or serve a purpose. Labeling. Let’s not kid ourselves: when you rush into a mystery box in search of holiday decorations, unlabeled packages could send you right back into Frustration-ville.

Clearly labeled box are your treasure map through what otherwise could be a sea cardboard confusion. Be sure to label each side, and in large, attractive letters. Organization is a good thing. Make your storage logical by creating aisles and leaving open spaces for regular visitors like winter clothing or camping supplies.
